History of SRV and NormalisationIntroductionNormalisation and SRV may be seen as having a background in several other historical and current approaches to human difference and perceived need. The fit with these precursors is by no means exact, but it is worth considering how SRV and Normalisation have been affected by their predecessors and also to consider how SRV and Normalisation may affect the current direct descendants of these historical paradigms. This section starts with a 'History of Poor Treatment'- how the lowly have usually been treated by a variety of societies in many eras. (STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION) It continues with an analysis of several bodies of learning or ideologies of reaction to the plight of the lowly. (STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION) A history of the European development of the Normalization Theory is offered, starting with Bank-Mikkelson and Grunewald, whose work predates and underpins the major work of Bengt Nirje in his foundation of the European model of Normalization. Then follows a description of the development of the North American Formulation of Normalization by wolf Wolfensberger. Finally, a brief history of the development by wolf Wolfensberger of Social Role Valorization from Normalization is given.
