Being Multiply Jeopardised, Scape-goated

This wound is to do with the treatment of an individual in a poor manner, purely because of their membership of a devalued group.

For instance, the group of people who are characterised by society as being 'Mentally Ill' may be perceived as a threat to other individuals.  Whilst this may be true for a small sub-group of these people, the group as a whole is no more 'dangerous' than an average group from that society.  However, if one is perceived as 'Mentally Ill', then one may also be feared as 'dangerous'.

Similarly, black men in Britain are seen as suspicious to the extent that they are stopped by the police some eight times more frequently than white men of the same background.  Recent cases have included a County Court Judge, Lawyers, Doctors, Two Newspaper Editors and even a serving policeman.  They were stopped not because they were engaged in a suspicious activity, but purely because of a socially constructed group to which they belonged.
